What We Offer

Telehealth, wherever you are

Songbird Psychology is a telehealth psychology service, which means you can meet with us from wherever you feel most comfortable.

You don't need to travel to an office or spend time sitting in a waiting room.

All you need is:

  • A reliable internet connection

  • A device that allows you to join your appointment

  • A comfortable, safe, and private space to talk

For some people, being at home makes therapy feel more accessible and manageable. For others, finding a private space outside the home works better.

The important thing is that you have somewhere you feel safe enough to talk openly.

Do I need a referral?

NO!!!! You certainly do not need to have a referral to work with us.

We accept clients who are privately funded, using Medicare rebates or Private Health Fund benefits, as well as eligible NDIS participants.

  • We are NOT a bulk billing service.

  • We are NOT a crisis support service.

  • We are NOT a Behaviour Support Practitioner.

  • We Do NOT offer ABA / Applied Behaviour Analysis services.

If you are wanting to access any eligible Medicare rebates, you will need to see your GP or Psychiatrist to get a referral from them to meet the Medicare criteria.

If you are wanting to use Private Health Fund benefits, please contact your health fund to check if your plan covers psychological services.

If you are wanting to use your NDIS self-managed or plan-managed funding for psychology services, please check with your LAC or Support Co-ordinator to confirm this is approved under your specific plan.

Individual Therapy

Songbird Psychology offers individually tailored therapy. This allows us to collaborate with you on what best meets your needs and allows us to draw on different therapy styles and modalities.

Some modalities we commonly draw from include:

  • Parts-work (eg Schema Therapy or IFS)

  • EMDR

  • Somatic therapies

  • CBT

  • ACT

  • DBT

Regardless of modality, we are committed to a client-centred and attachment-based approach. One that works for you both inside and outside the therapy space.

Session information: Therapy sessions are generally 50mins and the $240 cost is payable within 48hours.

Medicare rebates may be available for those with a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan from you GP or Psychiatrist. This rebate is currently $101.55 and can be processed after payment is received. A Mental Health Treatment Plan allows up to 10 rebated sessions per calendar year in line with Medicare requirements.
Please speak with your GP or Psychiatrist to see if you are eligible as a referral letter is required to access this rebate.

Neuro-Diversity Affirming Autism and ADHD Assessment

Our assessments are a little different from what you may be expecting.

From the initial meeting, through the interviews and questionnaires, finishing with a session to review of your report, our goal at Songbird Psychology is to tell the story of you.

We aim to help you build a better understanding how you experience the world, and the impact of events in your life.

A Neuro-diversity Affirming assessment and report is not about ‘symptoms’ or  ‘disorders’, nor is it about ‘super-powers’ and only seeing the positives. Our reports aim to reflect your lived experience – both the challenges and the strengths. From this we can give you information that helps you understand yourself better which then means you can identify the kinds of supports or accommodations that are suited to your particular neurotype and its unique aspects.

Please contact us directly for further information regarding our assessments.

Things to consider

While psychologists are able to identify specific diagnoses – such as Autism, ADHD, PTSD etc – we are not able to prescribe any form of medication that may support your needs. This needs to be discussed with your GP or psychiatrist. They may want to use their own assessment process in addition to any assessment and diagnoses we provide. Please consider this, and the potential financial implications, when you are choosing the path that best suits you.

This is not an assessment and report intended for forensic, legal, occupational, or educational purposes.

This may not be sufficient evidence if you intend to apply for NDIS or other disability related financial supports.
